}Hi,
}
}Thanks for your help! I have heard of Sloan this past week when a
}techno-raved friend of mine loaned me the cd. I hope WFFT will get
}the cd, we do get servicing from DGC. I have personally heard
}"Underwhelmed" on CFNY. If you wouldn't mind, addresses for the
}Halifax bands would be much appreciated!
The new album came out today, and my kid brother left high school at
lunch to buy it. Can't wait to get home!
I have here the Hear & Now '92 tape of independent local artists. I
thought it contained addresses but it's only phone numbers. The
producer is: Terry Pulliam
Soundmarket Recording Studio
Halifax, Nova Scotia
(902) 423-9828
You can also contact Dalhousie University's campus radio station
CKDU-FM at 494-6479 (Dalhousie Student Union Bldg Halifax but I
should be able to get a real address)or Sandy MacDonald c/o The Daily
News which I should also get a real address for or DTK records 1725
Barrington St. 3rd Floor Halifax B3J 3K5.
Here comes a track list with band, song, my own personal vague
description of the style (I'm not a musician, just a fan) and phone
number (area code 902).
1) Cool Blue Halo "Sheila Comes Around" straight up rock 434-8171
2) Sloan "Underwhelmed" `bubblegum pop' according to local reviewers
443-5360
3) Adinsong "Remembrance Day" programmed techno- also a local studio
"Adinsound Productions" who I can get you in touch with 462-0255
4) Mod'rn World Thang "Just Respect Our Culture" rap with some good
samples and nice rhythm 422-5902
5) Leonard Conan "Had It Made" country/folk influenced rock with
several experienced musicians 429-2887
6) Adrenalin "Deadly Twist" speed metal quite impressive band has
been around for a few years 435-5222
7) Rose Vaughan Trio "The Song of the Fog" flute and beautiful vocals
if it's your style 455-9928
8) Infra Dig "Face" pretty ballad 423-7943
9) Spike N "Full Circle Round" bouncy with odd harmonies 445-4098
10) Roland Blinn "No one Listened" one-man show: odd voice, all
programmed 422-5106
11) The Big Picture "Seven" based on the Sesame Street
"12345,678910,1112" tune. Very catchy, fun tune 420-1828
12) Aimless "Turning Green" fast guitar and interesting lyrics 422-
3793
13) Weasel Faced Judge "Bacon & Egg Bicycle" a trip into insanity!
Silly lyrics, menacing guitar and an eerie circus calliope rhythm
(I love it!) 422-0104
The rerelease CD has several extra tracks by other bands.
Some other local stuff I've got:
Thrush Hermit- a 4-song demo "Nobody Famous" and an album next year.
One of my favorite local bands. Energetic show and three good
singers plus a nice female guest vocalist. They describe themselves
as "Angst Not Punk". Once Played Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" but sang
lyrics to "Stayin' Alive"... hilarious. 38 Ravenrock Lane Halifax B3M
3A1
Purple Groove Monsters- The lead *violinist* is pretty interesting.
Typical underground rock style, demo tape "Maximum Lounge"
contact "Mike" at 10 Pope Crescent Lower Sackville NS B4C 2A5
Who Cares- Some of my 17- year old brother's friends. Live Demo tape
available, but I haven't heard it. Includes Nirvana and Stevie Ray
Vaughan covers. Patrick Doherty 258 Taranaki Drive Dartmouth NS B2W
4X7
There are also a few more established local artists you should be
able to get your hands on, like Sarah McLachlan (Nettwerk), Blackpool
(3rd album out soon), and, if you want to stretch it, Rita MacNeil
(ugh!)

}thanks! :))

No Problem! Hopefully I just gave someone the break they need for
international fame.
