LEn / hCg

hey! :)

last night the kids and i attended the super-duper show we'd all been 
drooling in anticipation over - len and hip club groove. :)

LEN. well i saw the slacker video last fall, instantaneously fell head
over heels for them, and got myself a copy of the (old) superstar record
(another version is now avaiable). it ended up being one of the best
albums i'd picked up allll year. and im not just saying that for any
stupid effect...i had genuinely become a len maniac. the songs on the album
were stylistically diverse, and i found that len's attitude and wacky
sense of humour were very refreshing indeed. mmmmmmmmmm len! 

last night was my first chance to see them live.:) they played barrymore's
music hall, which i think has a holding capacity of 700, but there were
about 40 people in attendance for their set. alot of stuff they played
was new (due to the fact that they have a new bass player) but i did 
recognize 'superfly'. Sharon is a sight with her massive Flying V guitar,
(i had no clue she was so tiny! wow, someone shorter thasn me!!) :) and so is 
marc, howling and leaping here and there like a leprechaun. actually
he totally reminds me of an elf...:) drew (sloannet boy, ex-cindy kid)
was on drums, a wicked multi-instrumentalist. :) i forget what the new
bass player's name is, but he's real tall and has a shaved head . he's
pretty wacky. :) they were joined onstage by their old bassist, mike,
as well as  HCG's checklove and mackenzie, for the very last song and they
played 'wiggle'. i guess i should also mention the laverne & shirley theme
song cover they played, cos it was splendid:) . fun fun fun!
"we like lenny! we like lenny! we like lenny! ...." yep, sure do. :) :)

HCG. this was my fourth time seein tha boyz live so i knew what to expect-
a freakin party! :) they're so much fun, and i dont understand why
inter-planet janet, warren rodericks and i were the only three people
dancing out of the maybe 60 people there. hmmm oh well, their loss.
:) checklove of course seized the opportunity to breakdance on the open
floor, and was delightful to watch. :) letsee now, they played 'rugged
operator', 'bay o fun day', 'phat mad flow', 'jizz', and much more (their
set was over an hour long, i think). some pretty wicked freestylin in
their as usual..wicked. :) so i had a great time watching them, and i'd
like to conclude that hip club groove do indeed RAWK. :) :) :) :) :)

HEY! when the len/HCG crew hits yr town i hope to heck that yer all
hittin tha floor! dont miss yr chance to attend the party of the year...
