tristan psionic/superfriendz/goohammer in hamilton
I went to my second superfriendz show yesterday... it was great.. I
talked to the shorter guitarist before the show <damn, I wish I could
remember his name>... he was telling me how he was really pleased with
the album... i was really happy when he told me Brenndan McGuire recorded
the album... because I really like the sound of the Rebecca West album,
and Thrush Hermit's smart bomb.
anyway, goohammer are a local hamilton band... they came on first don't be
fooled by the 'goo' part of their name... they sound nothing like sonic youth...
they're pretty boring... just another indy band...
anyway, superfriendz were on next, and they were great! (except for a
some sound problems during the first couple songs... the bass was WAY too
loud... <g>) the on stage chatter was funny... mark from tristan psionic
was standing up front and laughing at Chris's drumming (he made some
mistakes... Chris was laughing too...)
the crowd wasn't really into it, though... I guess they were all waiting
for Tristan Psionic (home town favourites here in hamilton)
tristan were ok, except they've been playing the same material for over a
year now... they played a couple new songs... I talked to Sandy (the
guitarist) before the show, and he said that he wanted to play the new
material, but Mark (the other guitarist) wanted to wait a couple more
months...
so, anyway... if anyone knows the shorter guitarist for superfriendz,
tell him joel from hamilton says hi, and tell him murderecords will be
getting an order for the album soon... :)
Oh! I heard one of the new Jale songs from the murderecords ep on the
radio today... great stuff... I'm going to order that, too...
anyway, good show.. I hope superfriendz didn't hate hamilton too much
because of all the 10 year olds at the x-club, so they'll come back
again. :)
joel...
