cory and brian, live from the republik

hey kids,

some people here on sloan net were cool enough to send me some questions 
to ask hip club groove so i thought i would write a few of their answers 
out. i was really surprised by them, i was totally afraid to talk to them 
cause i don't listen to hip hop and i always get the feeling that bands 
will hate my guts especially if i don't listen to their music much. oh 
well. they were sooo nice and sassy and they lie real good. i was feeling 
a little blue today and they totally made me day. i hope they have a good 
show tonight.

oh yeah, and i have a few messages/comments for some sloan net kids too 
from them.

tara da costa - cory says "i love you" and brian chimed in "i love you 
too tara. let's have kids!"

catano - cory "you know mike catano? he's wicked, eh? i totally love 
him."   brian "his mom is awesome, i like her. mike rules."

marc b. - cory "the computer guy?" :)

anyway, here we go.

Would you ever play in newfoundland? - Cory "oh yeah, newfoundland would 
rock. the people are cool there. Lee Aaron packs arenas there. People 
take you in and feed you, same for cape breton."

Is that marc and sharon from len in your new video? "yes"

Are you happy with the new video? - they started talking about how it was 
sent to muchmusic without their knowledge or seal of approval and they're 
not 100 per cent happy with it, and that obviously the guy directing it 
had never seen sabotage by the beastie boys or he wouldn't have put 
certain things in it...(hmmm, what *could* that mean?) and none of the 
effects were used. but it doens't matter anyway, cause muchmusic isn't 
playing it anymore because "of the hicks smokin and tokin in it" (cory)

Who did the screaming in Jizz? brian "just us and rich and jay o smooth, 
the hemp smokin dirtbag"
Cory "he's the only cool dartmouth guy and he's not even from dartmouth, 
he's from fairview"

Is truro the worst town to come from or is that just a rumor started by 
kids who live in dartmouth? cory "it's a rumor started by dartmouth kids. 
dartmouth is the worst place. all the black guys there are racist and 
beat up white guys." brian "don't take the last bus, that's all i'm 
saying" cory "that place is a dump. we never go to dartmouth at all, i 
went in once to pick up my super nintendo."

ha ha ha! :)

If there was a hip hop show in truro and hip club groove played, would 
anyone show up? "yeah, we'd pack the house." that was cory, and he went 
on to talk about how when they started it was all young kids who liked 
them and the older kids thought they were dumb and immature but now those 
kids are growing up and they go to shows in halifax and stuff and say 
stuff like "we always knew you'd do good" ie/ with videos and an album out.

Why are there no indie hip hop labels in halifax? cory "there is, Jorun."


anyway, hip club groove will be putting out a split 7'' on Fun Trip 
records (len's label) in the fall with Gordski, the guy who was with them 
on the big truck compilation. they're planning on doing a compilation 
cassette with gordski and six too and stinkin rich, then a full 
length with murder after christmas. they said lots more and told some 
very interesting stories about how derek's dad is a rich scientist who 
conducted experiments on their brains to make them think they were 
playing rock music when really they played hip hop.

oh yeah one more thing, i got to meet another sloan net kid today, len's 
drummer is of course drew lidkea and i recognized him from the pictures 
in ffiction. cory and me talked about sloan net a lot, and then he asked 
me my name again and he goes "tara? tara lee? the one who always fights 
with mike catano on sloan net?" and then he laughed. ha ha ha...

well, it cheered me up.
